Dr. Robert Janot & Dr. Madison Hayes have been named Adjunct Professors with the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). The doctors have also partnered with the University of Houston College of Optometry Mobile Eye Institute to provide LASER glaucoma & LASER cataract enhancement procedures for their patients, on site at their Sulphur Vision Source office. As adjunct professors, Dr. Janot & Dr. Hayes not only provide LASER services for their own patients, but also help train UHCO Student Doctors in Optometric Surgery. According to Dr. Marc Piccolo, Associate Dean for Professional Advancement & Executive Director of Surgical Services for UHCO, “It is our vision and our goal to have all of our students perform live surgeries on patients prior to graduating with their Doctor of Optometry degree. Thanks to the cooperative efforts of Dr. Janot, Dr. Hayes and the other area ODs, we hope to make this happen.”
The Mobile Eye Institute also travels to the offices of other Southwest Louisiana ODs who are certified in Optometric Surgery. Pictured are (L-R) Chaminga Lorensuhewa, Dr. Nimesh Patel, Dr. Gavin Gerondale (all UHCO faculty members), Dr. Janot, and Dr. Hayes.
